Ponce de Leon Dining Hall restoration featured in “Adapt + Reuse”

Recognized by the American Institute of Architects as one of the country’s most important buildings in 1957, and as a National Historic Landmark in 2006, Ponce de Leon Hotel stands today as the heart and centerpiece of Flagler College, with a residence hall, classrooms and labs, and a dining hall all under one roof. In the grand dining room, students come to eat and socialize, and tourists visit multiple times a day to gape at the three-and-a-half-story rotunda.

The building’s fascinating history is explored in Adapt + Reuse, with special mention of how Tipton Associates’ renovation of the dining room (with Kendale) found a new location and new life for the gorgeous Tiffany glass windows.

Our work at Flagler continues to gain attention—and not just because of those beautiful windows. American School & University featured the project in the 2020 Educational Interiors Showcase. IIDA Delta Regional Chapter gave the renovation a 2020 IDEA Award of Recognition. Read more about our work at Flagler’s Ponce de Leon Dining Hall here.
