Passing on a passion for design and community-building is at the heart of what we do at Tipton. That’s why we are thrilled to sponsor and help organize the return of Building Blocks: A City Built by Kids this Saturday at the Capitol Park Museum downtown.
Organized through the AIA Baton Rouge Education Committee, with active leadership and planning from our own team members, this free, family-friendly event offers young minds an inspiring, hands-on introduction to architecture, urban planning, and civic design.

What to Expect: The Louisiana State Museum will transform into a massive, interactive city grid where kids step into the shoes of urban designers and architects. Each young participant receives an official building permit, a designated block, and a specific zoning type. Using a variety of craft materials, they’ll design and construct their own structures to help bring a collective city to life.
Through guided, creative play, kids learn how buildings, spaces, and communities fit together. Along the way, they’ll discover how collaboration turns individual ideas into something greater.
