Tipton Associates partnered with Middle Tennessee State University to reimagine two dining facilities. Precipitated by our study centered on dining demand and capacity, Tipton designed renovations to bring residential dining to a more prominent, active location.
Now located in Keathley University Center, McCallie Dining Hall features an open seating area ringed by eight food stations suiting all tastebuds and dietary restrictions. The array of fresh culinary options on display includes an allergen-free platform, international grill, and scratch-made baked goods to residents and commuters. While guests must pay or use a meal plan to enter the All-You-Care-to-Eat food hall, a glass partition separates the millwork at the coffee shop to create dual access. The venue is now available to both guests of the dining hall and the larger public, who visit the university center and its lobby for community events.
A storefront with graphic film engages passersby with the activity inside, while wood-look luxury vinyl tile floated on top of existing terrazzo distinguishes the space without an abrupt separation.
