The City of Baton Rouge received assistance from EPA’s Greening America’s Capitals Program to help the city envision a new Downtown Greenway. The project team of Spackman Mossop Michaels landscape architects, Tipton Associates, Baton Rouge Downtown Development District staff, and EPA staff, worked together on this project.
Through the EPA-sponsored workshop, a consensus emerged as to the proposed route for the greening downtown, and the best strategies for incorporating bike lanes and shared bikeways into existing streets and pulic spaces. It also articulted very broadly-based community support for the City’s Downtown Greenway initiative.
