Auction to Support Iris Domestic Violence Center

Our charity art auction closes on Friday, November 29

As we head into December, the opportunity to be charitable and cross an item or two off your holiday shopping list at the same time should not be ignored. We’re supporting our ongoing partner Iris Domestic Violence Center with this charity art auction, featuring twenty-one works from over a dozen local artists with media ranging from paintings and sculpture to jewelry and ceramics. We asked the artists to reflect specifically on the logo of Iris D.V, a purple iris. The flower is a symbol of hope and valor that has been utilized for many centuries. You may recognize it most in the form of the fleur-de-lis. It’s a fitting way to honor the victims of domestic violence in our community.

Almost 1 in 5 homicides and 70% of female homicides on average in Baton Rouge are the result of domestic violence. This unfortunate reality means that the need to get victims away from their abusers and into safe, temporary housing is greater than available facilities have the capacity to deal with. Tipton has committed to work with Iris D.V. to help realize greater efficiencies in their existing facility as well as plan for improvements to a newly donated facility that they are currently moving into.

Review the gallery here and place your bids before Friday, November 29, at 5 pm. We’ll announce the winners then, with pick up of your new art available starting Monday, December 2.
