Tipton Associates was recognized for outstanding architecture by the American Institute of Architects Baton Rouge Chapter with a Gold Rose Award for their design of the LSU Laboratory School Gymnasium. According to AIA Baton Rouge, Gold Rose Awards are given for “projects with exemplary distinction from the winning submissions”. There were 10 winning submissions out of the 31 projects entered into the award program, with only one earning the designation of Gold Rose Award this year.
The submissions are judged by a jury of distinguished architects and their comments on this project included, “An inspired solution for a very common building type, a school gymnasium” and “all aspects of the project, from site placement to color, have been carefully considered and integrated into a cohesive whole. Every aspect appears to be interconnected and there does not appear to be any competing or unresolved aspects.”
