The Louisiana School for Agricultural Sciences (LaSAS) is one of a handful of agricultural schools in our nation and was the first rural agricultural school in Louisiana. Opening its doors to the first eight-grade class of sixty students in 2000, this school was designed to reach a maximum occupancy of 300 students by 2004. The visionary behind LaSAS was Mrs. Linda Bordelon, an educator and farmer, whose desire to see every student reach their full potential, inspired a new school for agricultural sciences. This school’s visioning and implementation was a partnership of school leaders, business leaders, community members and legislators. LaSAS offers a unique blend of the Agricultural Sciences in all areas of the curriculum.
