New $22 m laboratory north of the existing LSU Veterinary Medical School

The laboratory is separated into a north section consisting of office spaces and a south section consisting of lab spaces. This separation was designed to maximize the efficiencies of the HVAC system.

LADDL is designed with a central corridor aligned with the existing vet school to continue the connection of campus facilities. A clerestory allows natural light into the central corridor.

The interior labs are designed with state of the art systems and large windows to allow natural light into areas that have traditionally been dark and closed in and the layout was designed to maximize workflow.

LADDL is built 3 feet above grade with a special drainage system to accommodate the high river levels of the adjacent Mississippi River throughout the year.

This project of the Tipton Associates / Foil Wyatt JV design team is a two story concrete structure located to the north of the existing LSU Veterinary Medical School. The new facility provides full service diagnostic services, including pathology, histopathology, microbiology, virology, serology, electron microscopy and toxicology. The total gross square footage is 56,915 sq. ft. with energy efficient systems to assist with offsetting the energy needs of the specialty labs.
